Vintage ROLEX Sea-Dweller "double red", reference 1665, from 1979
The Ref. 1665 was Rolex's very first Sea-Dweller and the brand's response to demand for a more powerful alternative to the Submariner. Launched in 1967, the watch tripled the water resistance of the Submariner and featured a helium escape valve that allowed helium molecules to safely escape from the watch under pressure. The 1665 was the only Sea-Dweller with a domed acrylic crystal and did not feature the Submariner Date's Cyclops lens.
