DESCRIPTION

King Saud bin Abdul Aziz is the son of Abdulaziz ibn Abdul Rahman ibn Faisal ibn Turki ibn Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al Saud, who is the founder of Saudi Arabia. From 1902 he conquered and ruled a large part of central and North Arabia and he was in charge of the discovery of oil in Saudi Arabia. His son, King Ibn Saud, succeeded him and acceded to the throne in 1953.
Middle-Eastern royalties often gifted watches to government officials and important relations as a symbol of friendship and appreciation. King Saud gifted watches bearing a special dial, namely, with his face printed on it. Most logo- and crest dials display the figure above the 6-hour position as the watch brand's logo is displayed below the 12-hour position. However, King Saud (and also his father) did not want this and requested Omega to have his portrait shown below the 12-hour position, so above the Omega logo and regular text

Omega has one of the most diverse watch catalogues of any Swiss watch brand, and one of the classic collections the company has continuously produced for decades is the Constellation. Omega released the first Constellation in 1952, and it's still a cornerstone of the modern brand. Today's Constellation dates to circa 1956 and features a few characteristics that would go on to define the collection over time. The dial has the Constellation branding on it, of course, as well as an applied star logo and the portrait of Ibn Saud. The caseback features a depiction of the Geneva Observatory with eight stars that represent the eight observatory chronometer competitions Omega won in the 20th century. As you might expect, this Constellation was a chronometer-rated watch – it says so right on the dial.
