Original bust of King Ludwig II made by Julius Zumbusch
DESCRIPTION
Original bust of the time in plaster cast. The king Ludwig II in officer's tunic with medals and cordelepaulettes. The head with wavy hair, lip and chin beard. The king is depicted here at about 36 years of age, five years before his death. The sculptor Julius Zumbusch was the brother of Caspar von Zumbusch (1830 - 1915), who among other things created the bronze statue of King Maximilian II (1811 - 1864) in Munich. Other works by Julius Zumbusch include several allegorical figures at the Munich Palace of Justice (1895/97) and the Alois Senefelder monument of 1877 in Munich. Bust and indented round base worked in one piece, with beautiful age patina over stone-grey toning
